They did talk about the gallente bonuses being towards plates in a post before. A DEV I mean, about them getting a reduction to the plates speed reduction I believe.

I think it should be based on gear. So, lets say your squad is mostly all proto. Then the drones will have "proto status" or hard difficulty.
